On my various travels around the Internet to other Witchcraft related sites and in a number of publications I run into jokes and statements of derision about "Fluffy Bunny Wiccans/Pagans".

It is quite a humorous term but I'm wondering what does it really mean?

A Site which advertises itself as "Wicca for the rest of us" presents one authors take of the subject of Fluffy Bunnies but frankly I find myself wondering about someone who describes Fluffys as " people who, most broadly categorized, give the rest of us a bad name, not by doing bad or objectionable things but instead being unserious, sophomoric, or just plain wrong" on one line and then "Those who refuse to learn, refuse to think and refuse to consider the possibility that they could possibly ever be wrong" three lines later.

Well - whatever - I really don't take serious issue with the article, it is quite fun and when it gets down to brass tacks sums it up as "Fluffy Bunnies are frequently attracted to Wicca for the sake of appearance".

I couldn't agree more.

It does point out though that like all the other terminology frequently used under the banner of Witchcraft there is a wide cusp of difference between where the lines are drawn and who is on which side of it based upon where the speaker places themselves in the relative matrix of terminology.

The thing is that I personally have not had much to do with the Public Wiccan/Pagan/Witchcraft scene for quite some time. Even though I was a signatory to the original charter that led to the creation of the Covenant of the Goddess I stopped being a member of that organization in the mid 1980's, I stopped attending anything even resembling a pagan Festival, and I retreated to working exclusively with Kith and Kin of a few close knit Traditional Witchcraft Currents and so I just don't have a clue whether there really is a widespread "Problem" of Fluffy Bunny types clogging up the cosmic drains or what !

My practice does not fall under the banner of "Wicca" so I don't see how I really have any beef with how someone else who does place themselves under it should act or think.

Even if there ARE a lot of "Wanna Blessed Be's" and "Sweetness and Lighters" spending all their disposable cash on decorating their homes with floor to ceiling pentagrams, even if there are "One True Right And Only Book Believers" or "Crystal Wavers For Cerne" and "Shamans Without Shame" banging their drums and twirling their wands in the basement trying not to feel like assholes, who cares?

Does it really diminish anyone else if they indulge in these fantasies?

Personally I'd rather have a hundred Fluffys in my neighborhood than one rabid pinch faced meddling evangelical with vengeance on their mind.
