I was curious as to if anyone else here was interested in or incorporated the use of music (in whatever guise) into their personal practice.
As a musician this subject fascinates me, especially the use of music for religious/spiritual purposes. My current passion being the music of the Orthodox Church and "Early" music in general as that is the focus of my MA. It really has opened up an entirely new world of possibilities to me and made me question several things (which i intend to look into in more depth as soon as i can)
The main area that i have been thinking about is pitch. With many sources today offering correspondences between letters of alphabets and specific notes, the one element often not discussed is the pitch at which these notes should be intoned/resonated.
The pitch of the note A (440Hz)is higher now than during the Baroque era (where it was pitched at 415Hz) and the classical era (430Hz) but even throughout those times the note A differed from place to place. Even now, countries such as Germany pitch their A at 443Hz making it slightly higher than the typical A in the UK.
The impact when applying this to magical work can be quite interesting. I know that some people do not work with Chakras but ive always wondered how an Eastern system could work when a Western scale of tonality was applied to it. Also, at what pitch should these notes actually be resonated?
I did an experiment once using Baroque pitch and found the effects really interesting, especially at the solar plexus and throat centers which seemed to respond very well to the slightly lower pitch.
I was just curious as to what other people thought about this.
